First off, I’m sorry for the site being down for over a year. I know that oonagi lost its relevance some time ago, but as the gatekeeper to nearly a decade of Thanet scene information, I shouldn’t have kept it from you for so long.

This is kinda the first stage in an archival releases of the site. I can’t say when phase two comes as this one has taken me many months to compile. Regardless here are the highlights:

• The best login management we’ve ever had. Your username will now provide seamless access to all parts of the site.
• Complete forum archive (almost). I’ve imported the previous forum into this one, you’ll find it in the lower half of the forum. I’ve also merged many users giving you a true total post count. If you find your user profile isn’t merged, drop me an email (kevin@skinofstars.com) and I’ll do it for you.
• Unified theme. Actually, probably best described as a pretty grey theme, but I’m a minimalist kinda guy. At least you know you’re always on the same site ;)
• No forum spam. Well, for now…

Phase two should include snapshots of all the previous versions of the site. Which’ll be, when I get around to it. Naturally, If the site every picked up again I would prioritise integration with other services… I guess we see what happens.

I've just paid up oonagi for the next two years, so you can all now rest assured that oonagi isn't going anywhere just yet. As I'm sure you know, I'm not in Thanet anymore, but I still love you all so I would like to make this an even more useful site. Nothing is going to happen for a month or so but I was talking to Jay the other day about maybe adding some sort of simple feed reader to the front here. See if we can get updates from MySpace/blogs/Twitter/Facebook and whatever social thing we all like that week. I'd love to hear what you lot think about that, but we can talk about that later if you like.

I'm also going to be running some updates over the next day or so (today being 12th March 2009). This is just the usual stuff so you'll not notice much difference, it's just so you know that there may be a little downtime.

You all take real good care of each other now and we'll speak again in a bit. xxx

On perhaps a more solemn note, I want to announce that I am stepping down from organising any further football tournaments. The main reason being my distance from Thanet. Though I suspect that this means the end of the interband 5-a-side football, you have the choice to take up the mantle. If you wish to discuss what is next for the community then I shall link here to the 2008 football thread. Otherwise, I wish everyone, friend or foe, well and that is that, the end. – Kevin x

There is also a football 2008 wiki page. Here you can add your band name to the roster of expected teams, as well as anything else you deem necessary.

I'm afraid that you'll still have to log in again to edit the wiki. I'll see if I can update that over the coming weeks (shouldn't take more than an hour to sort out), as well as the minor issue with the main site navigation on the wiki if you are using Internet Explorer. Though I will say that all of you Windows kids should be using either Firefox or Opera!

Anyway, like I said before, all I'm doing with the site now is stabalising it. If you have any new features that you really think I should do then please let me know (see previous posts for contact details). Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you all around the site and hopefully, on the wiki ;)

Otherwise, I've not stopped working, just been held up a little by the fact thats th holidays are over. I am currently trying to build an all encompassing navigation bar which should look a little like (EDIT) as you see above

Hope you all find that adequate, I'm trying to keep it all simple. Most of the style coding has been done, I just need to figure how to integrate it well into every part. I also want it to have a search box (I'm sure you can see the space for that) which will can be used for all parts of the site (wiki/forum/news archive/links etc) but that will have to come a little later, ie, when all those parts of the site are working well.

Please don't be concerned by yet another oonagi overhaul, the forum is much better than the one we've been using yet it should still be familiar and easy to use. If I'm to be honest, it's also the last overhaul I intend to do. As an added bonus I've already completed secure wiki integration with the new forum, which means logins will be the same there too. No half jobs here, these are the latest and greatest stable editions.

Please be advised that I have not spent time theming, skinning and designing. All styles are currently defaults, so you will need to use your ingenuity in navigation for a few hours till I get some consistent links between the different parts of oonagi. I'm not likely to try anything to fancy at the moment, just what it needs to get it working.

As for this part of the site and whats next; right now I really want to just collate all information that oonagi has gathered over our eight years and after that, its pretty much over to you. :)
